In case you haven’t noticed, ThomasB blogged this weekend about Google is no longer indenting multiple site listings in the serps.  Matt Cutts then commented and confirmed it they no longer indent when the first listing has those special links.  I love when things get explained so quickly.  Nice find Thomas and thanks for the confirmation Matt.

Know any good places in Tahoe?

Spoketh by Greg Niland in Personal

I am taking my fiance for a week in August to Lake Tahoe in California.  I am looking for the best places.  If you know of any great restaurants or any travel tips please help a blogger out and let me know :)

Ever do a search on google.com and have it filled with uk or canadian sites?  It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it is really annoying to me.  I don’t want to buy from those websites because it normally means longer shipping times and higher delivery fees.  I want to find suppliers that are close to me (or ones that provide free overnight shipping).

Other countries easily customize their searches to either search the full index or just their country specific tld.  But America has trouble with this feature since .com tld has become so popular for websites around the world.  Search engines can’t really use that as a helpful tool.  And .us tld is not any better since it is not widely used and it is a popular choice for spammers.

Ugh!!!!

No trip to San Jose for me

Spoketh by Greg Niland in Personal

SES San Jose is coming up in a few weeks and it looks to be another great one.  But in case you haven’t heard I’m gonna be a little busy with a personal project and can’t make it.  I’ll definitely be dancing at the Googleplex next year.

SEO Wedding Registry

Spoketh by Greg Niland in Personal

Here’s a recent snippet of an im conversation I had with a seo friend about my wedding registry.

———-

Friend says: do you have a wedding wishlist yet?
goodroi says: (wedding registry site #1)
Friend says: ok, thanks, that’s all?
Friend says: only one cheap love to have left

goodroi says: (wedding registry site #2)
Friend says: ok, where’s the real one?
goodroi says: those are the two main ones
goodroi says: i tried registering at (expensive wedding registry site) but i really dont like any of the stuff
Friend says: hm, how about some nice high pr links or a old pr7 domain?
goodroi says: after having my own apartment for many years, i have just about everything i want
Friend says: yep
goodroi says: i can never have enough old pr 7 domains - lol

———-

I have been living on my own for a good long time and have everything that a normal wedding registry would cover.  Maybe adding to the registry some good old domains with alot of links would be a smart idea? Or maybe my fiance will kill me for even thinking about it :)

Rustybrick Goes Cartoon

Spoketh by Greg Niland in SEO

The gang at Sitepal have helped Barry aka Rustybrick turn into a talking cartoon.  They also magically made his voice alot deeper.  This should be very cool the next time Barry covers a conference.  Maybe I can try this for one of my GoodKarma podcast’s.
