Recently I received a question from a listener of my GoodKarma show about Adsense arbitrage. Since my friend George Kepnick at Dotted Online has researched this area, I asked him to do this guest post answering the question. Thanks George
I’ve got a question for you…
Do you have any Adsense arbitrage sites?
George: No Comment, but I will tell you I have a few sites that make money from AdSense.
I’m curious how people are tracking conversions on PPC campaigns where a conversion is defined as an Adsense click. Obviously w/ a 100% affiliate link site you can track conversions back to specific keywords by passing SIDs…but I’m struggling to figure out which PPC keywords are producing in an Adsense arbitrage model.
George: There is actually a really easy solution to tracking adsense clicks using Google Analytics software, that Aaron Wall found out, which you can learn how to install on this page. It was easy enough where I was able to set it up, and I do not have the skills to program “hello world”.
Do most people just look at incremental cost of PPC campaign vs. incremental Adsense revenue earned?…or are there tools that can get you an idea of revenue by keyword?
George: I am not sure how most people do it, but there are many ways of doing the same thing… One suggestion that I have is you are using different pages to place your ads use different CHANNELs on AdSense. This will allow you to know what your earnings are per channel, or in this case, per targeted page. If you mix this with Aarons script you can know what terms are converting for you (CTR) and how much you are earning per channel.
GrayWolf has touched on some more tactics in his three part arbitrage series. I, II, III which will supply more info for you. If you have any further questions, please let me know.
